Thanks q3q6b

Thanks for your work on this Mervyn. I've updated the package to better handle 32-bit and 64-bit using some code Pyromaniac has in one of his packages so the settings will work with either one. I also added path portablization (for bookmarks, etc). This marks your first official release, so you're now a PA.c Dev. Welcome to the team! Smile

Explorer++ Release 4f1b54

John,

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I'll take a close look at the changes you've introduced in the final release to see how I can improve on my other work.

Explorer++ Settings 5j1a20

Hi,

I just installed this as a portable app on my laptop x86 with Win XP up to date...

I normally install all portable apps as standalone programs in a 'portables' folder in my laptop.

Unfortunately, it doesn't any of the settings despite applying them. When I start it again, all settings go back to default.

Could you help me here? Am I doing something wrong?

I don't think it is you 5x3w2e

As far as I can tell, and I it I only spent a few minutes with it, the app does not seem to be keeping setting changes across sessions.

Can't Reproduce 3k2h4u

I can't reproduce this. If I change a setting like Hide Protected Files when running on Windows 7 x64 and then move to a Windows XP x86 machine, the setting is still there. Keep in mind that the "Replace Explorer" options should not be used (or ed) as you move machines and that Favorites outside of the Explorer++Portable folder on your portable device will currently be lost due to the bug reported below that will be fixed in a revision released shortly.

Same problem here on WinXP r3v2z

I also have this problem on a WinXP (x86) machine: I set up my toolbar config and when I restart the application the toolbar is empty ...

which code? 5v1tq

I don't handling 32-bit and 64-bit programs (I don't think I've ever worked with a 64-bit app). I ed it to look at the code, but it doesn't look familiar.

Also, does FileWriteN work correctly if you have two number "N"'s used twice? (in the launcher INI, it has [FileWrite1] twice; perhaps that's causing the problems above...).

No 5m1a29

Ns must be consecutive and unique; if you have two [FileWrite1] sections, the second will be ignored. Microsoft INI parsing rules.

Bug 4p715g

Yes, that's a bug that will cause favorites to be lost outside of the Explorer++ folder. I'll have a fix posted. But it should be unrelated to what is posted above.

Replace Explorer 4m50z

I really want the Replace Explorer option back. I think most people understand it should only be applied to your own systems. And as long as this setting gets reset, it shouldn't matter.
I do understand that if you change settings in an instance of Explorer++ that was opened not by Explorer++Portable.exe, none of the settings are saved. I think a warning message underneath the option should suffice. Of course, getting it to work would be nice too.

You Have To Use Local 5b733n

Then you have to use the regular version installed locally. The portable version moves settings around. The local version does not and will not work the same way with and without the launcher being used... they'll use 2 different sets of settings just as if you had a local and a portable one anyway, so it's really a moot point.

That's a shame. I guess my 4k3i3g

That's a shame. I guess my only option is to run the local version in portable mode then.
But I do wonder why you couldn't make Explorer++.exe not able to save settings when it is not opened by Explorer+++Portable.exe (of course it still needs to be able to read the settings from the .ini file, say the one from the DefaultData folder).
If this isn't really doable, then I hope the Explorer++ developer keeps the portable mode alive.
