Why do I need LameXPPortable? 3w3244
LameXP has a portable feature "out of the box" ( http://lamexp.sourceforge.net/doc/Manual.html#portable-mode ).
Why do I need LameXPPortable? To Launcher from portableapps.isosite.org wasted 40 MiB of RAM ( https://portableapps.isosite.org/node/57185 )? Or to confuse the by creating 10 versions of the same program?
Why do I need LameXPPortable?
No, it doesn't, Portablization 701516
First off, the launcher uses 1MB of RAM after starting the app. Here's it running on my system right now: https://i.imgur.com/2oG80ex.png
Second, like most 'portable' apps, LAME XP will lose some stuff as you move around. The launcher portablizes the paths within Lame XP's settings file so that things like your Output directory are preserved if you move between PCs and the path to your drive changes. Or you sync between PCs with different names using Google Drive/Dropbox.
Third, you get things like easy installs, automated updates, and integrated backups due to the format: https://portableapps.isosite.org/about/what_is_a_portable_app#whypaf
Fourth, if you want, you can just use the non-PAF version if you don't care about the backups, automated updates, verified virus-scanned releases, etc and want that 1MB of RAM back.
